Danyl Johnson starts climb to fame
After Danyl Johnson appeared on “X Factor” last week, a familiar scenario began to play out on the Internet. Millions of viewers watched the video of his audition, everyone was talking about him, and now he’s even appeared on the Today Show.
Many people were reminded of the Internet explosion that happened after Susan Boyle appeared on “Britain’s Got Talent” and wowed judges. Her video went viral. She appeared on a morning news/talk show. I suppose that’s why people are calling Danyl Johnson “the next Susan Boyle.” But didn’t Susan Boyle have a nervous breakdown from all of the pressure and then disappear? She is supposedly releasing an album in November, but she didn’t even win the show.
A better ‘X Factor’ story for Danyl Johnson
I think Danyl Johnson from “X Factor” can look forward to an easy loan for an album and a long career in music. I hope that in the end, people will be comparing Danyl Johnson to Leona Lewis, the winner of the third season of “X Factor.” She has gone on to become a worldwide hit and her album “Spirit” went multiplatinum. She has been nominated for three Grammys.
Leona Lewis signed a $9.7 million five-album contract with J Records, and unlike most “X Factor” winners, her popularity is spread worldwide, reaching far beyond the U.K.
Danyl Johnson’s got what it takes
Danyl Johnson is much younger and seems a lot more comfortable with the attention than Susan Boyle did, and I think he has what it takes to have a career in the music industry. The only think Danyl Johnson from “X Factor” and Susan Boyle have in common is YouTube hits. Speaking of which, here’s the video of Danyl Johnson on “X Factor.”
That version’s a little grainy and the sounds a bit off, so if you want to see a higher quality version check out Danyl Johnson X Factor on YouTube.
Danyl Jonson on the Today Show
A sign that Danyl Johnson from “X Factor” is destined for fame in the U.S. as well as England, where he lives, is his appearance on the Today Show. He talked to Matt Lauer and Ann Curry about his students encouraging him to audition. He is a school teacher in Reading, England. Danyl Johnson said:
“I thought that dream had gone past. And the kids have been so supportive, and they said I should go in for the competition. And I thought, ‘OK, I’ll send off an application, and if I get one back, see what happens from there.’ And I’m so glad they got me to do it.”
He also said he wants to start writing songs and get an album out. He appears very comfortable in front of the camera, and Matt Lauer said Danyl Johnson on “X Factor” had the best stage presence he’s seen on that show or similar shows.
