After making comments on Ground Zero, Obama is more hotly discussed

Obama comments on Ground Zero creating more debate

President Obama spoke about the lower Manhattan Muslim community center Friday night which began more Ground Zero fighting. Muslims have the exact same rights as all the other religions, explains Obama to the Republicans who then said they’d use that against democrats within the fall elections because of how serious the comments were. Chatter became very heated. Meanwhile, it was business as usual at the bars, strip joints and liquor stores surrounding Ground Zero. There is already a mosque near Ground Zero still doing its worship services throughout the weekend.

Politicians and Ground Zero

Obama made his remarks on the Ground Zero mosque with a lot of opinion on Friday because it was the beginning of Ramadan, which is a Muslim holiday. ABC News reports that the president spoke in “forceful tones” about the need for American values to win out at the site near Ground Zero. Democrats running in the election in November are scared to defend the statements made by President Obama. Building a mosque near Ground Zero is a bad idea for 69 percent of people answering a CNN poll last week. Republicans have pandered to the voters evidently. The New York Times quotes Newt Gingrich saying Obama was “pandering to radical Islam.”

The Ground Zero mosque is emerging as a divisive issue in the midterm elections. Republicans plan to use Obama’s support for the Muslim community center to label the president as “out of touch.”. The media didn’t add in the additional comments that puts Obama’s statement into context as the Washington Post does:

Now, we must all recognize and respect the sensitivities surrounding the development of Lower Manhattan. The 9/11 attacks were a deeply traumatic event for our country. And the pain and the experience of suffering by those who lost loved ones is just unimaginable. So I understand the emotions that this issue engenders. And Ground Zero is, indeed, hallowed ground.

You will find mosques in lower Manhattan

The Ground Zero mosque, a local issue, is now political fodder for a bogus national referendum. Ground Zero still is exactly the same of course. Mosques in lower Manhattan abound, reports Indy Posted. A mosque is already in place only 2,000 feet from where Ground Zero is. The Muslim community center would rise 686 feet closer. Anyone coming to Ground Zero where the worst terrorist attack in America happened can take care of personal business including getting porn and betting on horses, reports the New York Daily News. If you go two blocks down the road, you are able to see nearly naked women on the Pussycat Lounge windows. Next door, the marquee at the Thunder Lingerie and peep show sports an American flag above a window display of sex toys.
